There are two kinds of car insurance policies

available - Third Party Liability Only Car Insurance Policy and Comprehensive Car Insurance Policy.

Third Party Liability Only Car Insurance Policy

Third Party Liability Car Insurance Policy means damage to Third Party vehicle or property. In case of physical damages, the limit of liability here is up to Rs. 7.5 lakhs. In case of injuries, there will be no such limit to the liability

What will not be covered under Third Party Liability Only Car Insurance Policy?

  • Damage to own vehicle as a result of accidents, fire or natural calamities
  • Injury to owner-driver
  • Theft or Total Loss of Vehicle
  • add ons such as Return to Invoice, Zero Depreciation, etc. are not available

Comprehensive Car Insurance Policy

The primary difference between a Comprehensive Car Insurance Policy and a third-party liability only is that the former covers ‘Own Damages’ as well. Own damages refer to the damage sustained by one’s own vehicle. It will cover:

  • Along with cover for damage to own vehicle as a result of accidents, fire or natural calamities.

Go Digit Car Insurance with Add-On Covers

The add-ons offered by Go Digit are as follows:

  • Zero Depreciation cover (also called bumper-bumper or parts depreciation cover): When a vehicle is damaged, the complete cost of replacement is not given since depreciation gets deducted from the claim amount. However, with this a Zero Depreciation cover, the policyholder will get the full value of cost of repair or replacement provided. This is better suited for cars that are less than 5 years old.
  • Return to Invoice : Return to Invoice will allow the policyholder to get the ex-showroom price or last invoice value in case the car gets stolen or is completely damaged. Return to invoice covers the gap between the IDV and the car's invoice value. IDV is lesser than the invoice value on account of depreciation that occurs over the years.
  • Engine and Gear-Box Protection: A comprehensive car insurance policy does not cover engine damage, unless the damage occurs at the same time as the accident. With this add-on, a consequential damage to the engine will be covered. For example - if a policyholder's car is towed roughly, causing damage to the engine or gearbox, this add-on will cover the repair cost.
  • Breakdown Assistance cover: This add-on provides 24*7 road assistance for one's car up to 500 kms from the city. It covers situations like flat battery or tyre, minor repairs, accommodation benefits, medical coordination, legal assistance and towing facilities.
  • Tyre Protect cover: This add-on covers common situations where an accidental damage occurs to only the tyre and not the car. It covers instances like tyre bursts, bulges or cuts, which causes the tyre to be unfit for use.

    What’s Covered?

    • Accidents: Covers common damages to own car, like accidents and collisions.
    • Theft: Covers theft of vehicle.
    • Fire: Covers common damages due to fire.
    • Natural Disasters: Covers damages caused by any natural disasters.
    • Personal Accident: Covers liabilities arising in the instance a car accident leads to death or disability of the owner.

    What’s not Covered?

    Below are some of the situations that will not be covered by the insurance company:

    • Drunk driving or driving without a valid driving license.
    • If the individual holds a learner’s license, but was found to be driving without a valid driving license-holder in the front passenger seat.
    • Damages that are not a direct result of the accident
    • Any contributory negligence (e.g. damage as a result of driving a car in a flood, which is not recommended according to the manufacturer’s driving manual, will not be covered.)

    Online Process

    • Step 1: Enter Vehicle’s Make, Model, Variant, Registration Date and city (where the applicant is residing in). Click on ‘Get Quote’ and select the choice of plan.
    • Step 2: Pick between a third-party liability only cover and a standard package.
    • Step 3: Submit details about previous insurance policy - date of expiry, claim made in the last year and no claim bonus earned.
    • Step 4: The user will be redirected to a page containing the new premiums. If the individual has chosen a Standard Plan, he or she can customize it further by selecting add-ons, setting the IDV and confirming if the car has CNG. The final premium will be reflected on the next page.
