  • Collect the form LLD from the RLA office.
  • Fill the form and submit all the relevant documents to the RLA office.
  • On verification of the form and documents, the RLA will dispatch the applicant’s duplicate driving license via speed post.

How to Renew Driving License in Chandigarh?

In Chandigarh, a driving licence is valid for 20 years or until the age of 50, whichever is earlier. After the date of expiry, a DL issued in Chandigarh is subjected to renewal, and for its renewal, an applicant will have to follow the below mentioned procedure. Note: An applicant applying for renewal of driving license in Chandigarh has to apply for it 30 days before the date of expiry of the licence.

How to Apply for International Driving License in Chandigarh?

An individual residing in Chandigarh can apply for an International driving license by following the below mentioned steps. An International driving license can be availed by any individual wishing to drive a motor vehicle in a foreign land. This license issued in Chandigarh is valid for a period of 1 year and also requires an applicant to hold a permanent driving license issued in the city. The Chandigarh Administration Transport Department does not provide an online application facility for availing an International driving permit, but only allows the applicant to download the form online.

Driving Test Procedure for Driving License in Chandigarh

Rule 15 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1989 states that an applicant has to pass the ‘Test of Competence Test’ to obtain a driving license. In the Union Territory of Chandigarh, a driving test is conducted as per the rule of MVA and below is the procedure mentioned for the same.

The applicant is expected to display his driving skills by successfully driving along the test tracks by following the road signs and markings done on the track. Applicant will have to drive along various curves, incline and decline features, T-intersections, reverse from a blind alley and others.
