Rural workers, like farmers, are deprived of healthcare services owing to the affordability factor. Hence, to safeguard the health of farmers, the Karnataka Government has launched the Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme. The scheme provides health insurance coverage to farmers amidst adverse financial crisis.
Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme was launched by the former Chief Minister of Karnataka, S.M.Krishna in the year 2003 to offer comprehensive coverage to farmers who are members of the state co-operative societies.
The scheme offering coverage to people in over 30 districts of Karnataka is managed by the Yeshasvini Cooperative Health Care Trust registered under the Indian Trust Act 1882.
Under the Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme, farmers are provided coverage up to Rs. 2.5 lakh at minimum premium payment of Rs. 250/- on an annual basis. Under this scheme, farmers can get coverage for medical emergencies for their family members.
Curated for the members of Urban and Rural Co-operative societies, the below surgical and medical treatments are covered under the Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme.
Overall, up to 823 medical procedures are covered and the facility can be availed using the Yeshasvini card facility.
The Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme does not provide coverage for any of the following medical treatments.

Yeshasvini Cooperative Farmers Health Care Trust is a financial trust that ensures seamless implementation of the health insurance scheme. The Chief Minister of the state of Karnataka is the chief patron of the trust along with the Ministry of cooperation as a contributor.
The trust’s governing body also consists of renowned doctors, 5 senior officers and a principal secretary
To deliver the mentioned benefits to individuals who are a part of the scheme, karnataka Government also makes significant contributions to the funds
Guidelines are issued for enrollment and monitoring of the scheme by the Department of Cooperation under Government of Karnataka
The enrollment process and contribution collection is taken care of by the Registrar of Cooperative Societies and Cooperative Development Officers. The premium amount collected is sent to the District Central Cooperative Banks which further transfers the amount to the Apex Bank of Bangalore
The collected premium amount is then utilized to finance the medical coverage required by the policyholders

Yeshasvini Health card is a unique ID card that enables the members to avail treatment at healthcare facilities. By displaying the card at the hospital, the scheme holder can avail treatment at the network hospital for cashless hospitalization service. The card is issued at the time of policy purchase and can be renewed at all cooperative societies.
