The UIDAI has launched a new version of the official Aadhaar app, mAadhaar. The app is available for download on Apple's App store and Google Play Store. According to the UIDAI, users need to delete the previous version from their smartphones and install the new version, which is said to be more secure.
Entities can use the app for availing a number of services, which includes updating their address, requesting for an address validation letter, etc. The other modes by which individuals can change or update the address in their Aadhaar are via the UIDAI portal or by visiting a Permanent Enrolment Centre.
To avail personalized Aadhaar services, it is necessary for users to register their Aadhaar profiles in the app. mAadhaar is multilingual, and the languages that it supports include English, Hindi, Urdu, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Odia, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi and Assamese. It is important to note that the app does not function offline. There needs to be proper internet connection to download data from the UIDAI.
