UAN, or Universal Account Number, can be easily generated online. Read more and find out.
Universal Account Number is a 12 digit number which allows an individual to access their EPF account. EPF stands for Employee Provident Fund. All working (salaried) professionals have an EPF account initiated by their employers. The UAN of an employee remains the same throughout life, irrespective of the number of jobs he/she changes. When you join a new company, the EPFO allots a new member identification number which gets linked to the UAN of the employee.
With UAN, you can easily access your PF account details like withdrawal, transfers, checking the balance, employer contribution, passbook details, loan application, etc.
There are two ways to generate your UAN:
Employer - The easiest way to know your UAN is through your employer. The UAN would be automatically generated when you joined the company. You can visit the HR or Accounts department and ask for your UAN. Many companies provide UAN details in an employee’s salary slip. You can download your salary slip from the employer portal.
UAN Portal - You can visit the official website of UAN/EPFO (Employee Provident Fund Organisation) to know your UAN. Here are the steps to do the same.
EPFO Website - You can activate/generate your UAN from the EPFO portal, provided you have your Universal Account Number and PF member ID.
