Income Tax Department is referred as the I.T Department in India. It is a governing agency responsible for collecting revenue in form of taxes for the Indian government. It runs under the Department of Revenue of the Ministry of Finance. The apex body of the department is called as Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). The apex body is responsible for enforcing various rules, laws, and regulations related to direct taxation. The income tax department has offices in various cities in India. Such offices work to investigate and assess the various cases that they think are not in the interest of the revenue. Services relating to PAN, TAN, Tax payments, TDS, Filing tax returns etc. are provided online through various tax sites. Income Tax departments are also equipped with grievance cells or departments that solve queries faced by a taxpayer. It also issues circulars and notifications on its website from time to time, thereby bringing more clarity. The income tax department reaches out to its taxpayers through various websites and customer care numbers for solving their grievances. Such helpline numbers, before providing the caller with details, enquire for caller’s details such as TAN of the account, PAN, Date of birth or incorporation, as the case may be. Due to this, one can be assured about privacy and confidentiality being preserved. Also, the queries are resolved in a timely and comprehensive manner. One does not need to wait for redressal of complaints and queries.
The only aspect is that the details asked by the customer care executive should be kept handy. Income Tax Department also encourages feedback about the services provided by them. So it safe to say that the Income-tax department is constantly working to provide quick and easy redressal.
It has also launched a new grievance redressal system named as eNivaran online facility. One can access this facility by simply logging in the IT account on the IT website and click on E- Nivaran and submit a grievance. One can track its status from the acknowledgment number generated.
