The state of Rajasthan has its very own dedicated Rajasthan Motor Vehicles Taxation Act. The purpose of this act is to maintain and implement Road Tax and Special Road Tax on all vehicles operating in Rajasthan.
Residents of Rajasthan who own a vehicle are required to pay road tax inclusive of ex-showroom price, as per the Rajasthan Motor Vehicles Taxation Act of 1951.
A car insurance policy is mandatory for every vehicle registered at Rajasthan RTO as per The Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.

Note: Agricultural Tractors and Combine Harvesters have been exempted from one time tax with effect from 9.03.2011.
The official transport department of Rajasthan has created an online portal where you can easily pay the applicable road tax. The website comes with a free calculator which will help you determine the correct road tax to be paid. You simply need to enter a few details such as registration number, chassis number, vehicle type and the amount of road tax will be displayed. Post payment, you will receive an acknowledgement slip as proof of payment.
