The Gwalior Transport Department ensures the enforcement of the provisions of Motor Vehicles Act 1988, in Gwalior. The Gwalior Transport Department looks into registration of vehicles, issuance of driving licenses and permits, motor vehicle tax and enforcement of vehicles.
A car insurance policy is mandatory for every vehicle registered at Gwalior RTO as per The Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
The Gwalior Transport Department is mainly involved in the following functions and duties:
Online Permits Application and Objection System for vehicles - Issuance of permits to different vehicles, issuance of duplicate permit, cancellation of permit.
Online Driving License Application – Issuance of new, duplicate, learner and permanent license.
Online Tax Payment System - Collection of tax for new vehicles, and other road taxes.
Dealer Point Enrollment System – For dealers to register vehicles online.
Online Fitness/NOC – Issuance of fresh, renewal and duplicate of Fitness/NOC for the vehicles.
Online registration certificate, renewal, and reissuance– Issuance of RC book, transfer of ownership, change of address, issuance of duplicate certification of registration, etc.
