Ernakulam is a commercial capital of the state of Kerala. Ernakulam RTO is established to function under the provisions of section 213(1) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The regional transport office of Ernakulam is responsible to carry out services such as collection of taxes, issuing permits, controlling vehicle pollution and others. Ernakulam RTO comes under the Kerala state Motor Vehicles Department.
A motor insurance policy is mandatory for every vehicle registered at Ernakulam RTO as per The Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
