An application for registration of a motor vehicle shall be made in Form 20 to the registering authority within seven days from the date of taking delivery of such vehicle, excluding the period of journey and shall be accompanied by the following documents:
There are two types of registration certificates, one is a temporary registration certificate and the other is a permanent registration certificate. The following are the steps to get a permanent registration certificate in Madhya Pradesh:
Step 1: Visit your nearest RTO office within 7 days of purchasing the vehicle

As per rule 52 of CMVR, 1989, the renewal of a private vehicle should take place after 15 years of purchase and then every 5 years. For commercial vehicles, it is to be renewed annually with a valid fitness certificate.

5.Road Tax for Vehicles from Other States

6.Penalties for Non-Payment
Failure to pay the road tax can result in a penalty of 4% of the unpaid amount, in addition to the outstanding tax. Continued non-payment may lead to the seizure of the vehicle.
7. Payment of Road Tax
