Sikkim RTO

The Motor Vehicles Division is a constituent part of the Transport Department, Government of Sikkim whose salient features are to enforce and implement the laws relating to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, Sikkim Motor Vehicle Rules, 1991, the Sikkim Motor Vehicles (Taxation) Act, 1982.

Sikkim RTO office organises and develops road transportation in the city through permits. The department is headed by the Transport Commissioner.

A car insurance policy is mandatory for every vehicle registered at Sikkim RTO as per The Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
