Besides these three, there are combination plans offered by the company as well. The different types of plans offered by the company are mentioned below:
Star Health & Allied Insurance Company Limited has a variety of health insurance plans. There are comprehensive health insurance plans, senior citizen health plans, top-up health plans, fixed benefit health plans and others. Let us understand the different types of health plans briefly:
Star Health and Allied Health Insurance Company also covers new-born babies in the family. This plan is generally issued as a single plan, with an aim of covering the entire family.
Senior Citizens Red Carpet Health Insurance Policy: This is a specialized plan for individuals aged 60 to 75 years. The plan does not require pre-entrance medical check-ups and covers pre-existing illnesses after a waiting period of 1 year only. Lifelong renewability is allowed and coverage is available up to Rs.10 lakhs. Among the coverage features, the plan covers out-patient consultation expenses, day care procedures, hospitalization expenses, specific day-care procedures and transportation expenses etc.
Star Comprehensive Insurance Policy: Any person falling under the age group of 18 to 65 years can opt for this policy. This is another health insurance plan which provides exhaustive coverage for the whole family. There are no sub-limits on treatment costs and the plan provides some unique coverage benefits. These benefits include coverage for bariatric surgery, air ambulance, second opinion for major illnesses, dental and ophthalmic coverage on outpatient basis and a personal accident cover for accidental death and disability.
This plan also covers new born babies and offers maternity benefits too. On completion of existing sum insured, the policy holder can apply for 100% automatic restoration of the existing sum insured.
Star Medi Classic Individual Insurance Policy : This is a simple health plan for individuals. It allows a 5% No Claim Bonus for each claim-free year up to a maximum of 25%. This bonus increases the Sum Insured every year. The Sum Insured is restored by up to 200% if it is used up and 101 day care treatments are covered under the plan. Moreover, there are two optional covers of hospital cash and patient care. Free health check-up is the added benefit of this plan. Subject to some specific conditions, patients suffering from HIV + can also opt for this plan.
Star Health Gain Insurance Policy : Health Gain is available as an individual plan and family floater plan. Outpatient treatments are covered under the plan and any unutilized benefits can be carried forward to the next policy year. Moreover, what is unique about the plan is that it has one rate of premium for all Sum Insured levels across all age groups. In case no claim is made in any policy year, the plan allows a no claim discount of 10% in the renewal premium. The premiums are fixed for all in this plan.
Super Surplus Insurance Policy : This is a top-up health insurance plan which is designed to increase your Sum Insured without increasing your premium rates considerably. There is a 3-year waiting period for pre-existing illnesses and the plan does not require any pre-entrance medical check-ups. A medical second opinion is available and the gold variant of the plan also covers expenses incurred for arranging air ambulance services.
Star Unique Health Insurance Policy : Any person falling between 18 to 65 years old can opt for this plan. Just as the name suggests, this health insurance plan offered by Star Health provides some truly unique benefits. Pre-existing illnesses are covered only after a waiting period of 11 months which is the lowest in the industry. The policy has a term of 2 years with a co-pay benefit, where the policyholder can pay premiums in two instalments. What’s more, even HIV positive patients having a CD 4 count of 350 and above can buy the policy without any medical check-ups. A life time renewal scheme is available. Subject to some specific conditions, patients suffering from HIV + can also opt for this plan.
Diabetes Safe Insurance Policy : Any individual suffering from diabetes mellitus and between the ages of 18 to 65 years can opt for this plan. Both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are covered by the plan under two plan variants of A and B. while there is no pre-entrance medical check-up in Plan B, Plan A mandates such screening. The salient coverage features in the plan includes coverage for OPD expenses, accidental death, donor expenses for kidney transplant surgery, dialysis and cost of artificial limbs to name a few. You can buy this policy for self and your spouse.
Star Cardiac Care Policy : This plan is made available on individual basis only. Any person between the age of 10 to 65 years old and those who have undergone PTCA treatment/ Bypass surgery only once in the 4 years before buying the health plan can opt for this policy.. Besides providing coverage for in-patient hospitalization for any heart related complications, the plan also provides other normal coverage benefits like pre and post hospitalization, day care treatments, ambulance expenses, etc. Moreover, there is no requirement of pre-entrance medical screening. Offers plans under individual basis with 101 day care procedures covered during the entire treatment.
Star Wedding Gift Insurance Plan: Any married couple falling under the age group of 18 to 65 years can opt for this plan. This plan is made available on floater basis for spouse, self and dependent children. If you want to give your child the perfect wedding gift, this health plan from Star Health is the ideal solution. This plan is designed for newly-weds who require maternity coverage and cover for new born baby after marriage. The plan covers normal hospitalization as well as alternative treatments. No medical check-ups are required before buying the plan and the policy can be taken for 1 or 2 years.
Star Micro Health Insurance: Any person falling under the age group of 5 months to 65 years can buy this plan. This is a health plan for rural population. Affordable coverage is provided under the plan which covers hospitalization expenses as well as ambulance charges. Children with at least one parent can be covered under this plan.
Star Net Plus: Any person who is HIV positive or someone taking services from NGO’s or government agencies can opt for this type of health plan. The first and the only health insurance plan which is designed for covering HIV positive individuals. This policy is sold as a group policy which can be sourced by NGOs, Governmental agencies and any registered society which is engaging in serving HIV positive individuals.
Star Care Micro Insurance Policy: Any person falling under the age group of 18 to 65 years and residing in cities falling under Tier I or Tier II can opt for this type of policy. The policy can be taken for an individual or for the entire family under a family floater plan. Besides offering coverage for basic hospitalization, the plan also allows hospital cash benefit allowance if the insured takes treatment in a Government hospital.
Star Criticare Plus Insurance Policy: Any person falling under the age group of 18 to 65 years can opt for this policy. A critical illness plan, Star Criticare Plus Insurance Policy covers 9 listed critical illnesses. The policyholder chooses the Sum Insured which is paid if the insured is diagnosed with any of the covered 9 illnesses. The policy also covers regular hospitalization, non-allopathic treatments, pre and post hospitalization, day care procedures and ambulance expenses. This plan is issued under individual basis.
Star Family Delite Insurance Policy : Any person falling under the age group of 5 months to 65 years can opt for this plan. This is a family floater health insurance plan which provides an affordable cover for the entire family. Basic coverage features are provided by the plan which includes pre and post hospitalization, in-patient hospitalization, ambulance charges, day-care treatments and specified diseases.
Combi Products These plans combine the benefits of two different types of plans and offer a combined coverage. There are five combi plans offered by the company which is described below:
Star First Delite: This is a combination of a health insurance plan and a life insurance plan. The plan covers the entire family under a floater basis. Coverage features include pre and post hospitalization, regular hospitalization, ambulance charges, day care treatments, etc. Moreover, if any covered member dies during the term of the plan, the Sum Insured is paid in lump sum as a death benefit.
Star First Care: This plan comes as an individual plan or a family floater plan and covers hospitalization and all its related expenses. It covers pre and post-hospitalization expenses. There is a provision of hospital cash benefit allowance if hospitalization and treatments are done in a Government hospital. If the life insured or any insured member dies during the plan tenure, the plan pays the Sum Insured in lump sum.
Star First Comprehensive: This is a comprehensive health insurance plan which also provides life insurance coverage. There are no sub-limits and the plan also covers bariatric surgeries. Other important coverage features include air ambulance, second medical opinion, maternity that includes both normal as well as caesarean delivery and newborn baby cover, outpatient cover, hospital cash benefit and personal accident cover. The lump sum Insured is paid in case of death during plan term. Offers coverage for 400 plus day-care procedures.
Star First Classic: The plan provides basic health insurance coverage. There is a No Claim Bonus of 5% every claim-free year up to a maximum of 25%. The Sum Insured is restored by up to 200% automatically, if it is exhausted. Health check-ups are allowed after every 4 successive claim-free years. There are two optional covers too – hospital cash and patient care cover. Offers coverage for 101 plus day-care procedures. The sum assured is paid if the policy holder passes away during the policy term.
Star First Optima Insurance Policy: This is a family floater health plan which provides auto recharge of Sum Insured up to 30% without any extra premium. Free health check-ups are allowed after every 3 years and there is an auto restoration feature which restores the Sum Insured by up to 200% when it is used up. The plan also provides coverage for the new born baby from the 16th day and domiciliary treatments too. Offers coverage for 400 plus day-care procedures, donor expenses for organ transportation etc.
These plans cover contingencies faced when travelling abroad. There are three types of plans which are discussed below:
Star Travel Protect Insurance Policy: Any person who is a resident of India travelling abroad with an intention of leisure or work can opt for this policy. However, the same can be bought for individuals above 6 months of age. The policy covers trips taken abroad for business or leisure purposes. The coverage features include emergency medical expenses, repatriation of mortal remains, medical evacuation, dental treatments due to an accident, accidental injuries, trip cancellation, loss or delay of checked-in baggage, personal liability, etc.
Star Corporate Travel Protect Insurance Policy: Any Indian resident who is above 18 years of age and is travelling abroad for business purposes can opt for this plan. This plan is designed for frequent business travelers. Coverage includes emergency medical expenses, dental treatments due to accidents, loss or delay of checked -in-baggage, loss of passport, personal accident, legal liability, etc. It also offers a personal accident cover. Any legal liability arising due to property damage or bodily damage caused to any third-party is covered under this policy.
Star Student Travel Protect Insurance Policy: This is a student travel insurance plan which is designed for students who are traveling abroad for higher education. Coverage under the plan is allowed for a maximum of 365 days. The plan provides coverage for medical expenses, accidental injuries, compassionate visits, legal liability, bail bond, dental treatments, loss or delay of checked-in baggage etc.
This plan offers a compassionate advantage where one visit of a family member is granted in case of hospitalization, death of a family member, repatriation etc.
These plans are personal accident plans which cover accidental disability and death.
Student Care Under the Student Care, there are 2 types of plans available:
The eligibility is between 3 years to 18 years under the school student care insurance. For college student care insurance policy students between 15 to 25 years. This plan is for students and covers any accidental death and disabilities faced by a student. The plan pays hospitalization expenses if the insured is admitted for accidental injuries. Moreover, if the bread-winner of the family dies or becomes permanently disabled due to an accident, the plan pays an educational grant to the student. There are two variants of the plan – College Student Care Insurance and School Student Care Insurance
Accidental Care Individual Insurance Policy : Any person under the age group of 18 and 70 years can opt for this plan. Dependent children from the age of 5 months can opt for this plan. This is an individual personal accident policy which covers accidental death, temporary disablement or permanent disablement. In fact, in case of permanent disability, the plan pays 150% of the chosen Sum Insured to the policyholder.
For cashless claim:
If it is a planned hospitalization, you should contact the company at its toll-free number 1800 425 2255 and intimate the claim. The Pre-authorization form should be faxed at 1800 425 5522 (toll-free) or 044 2830 2200 (chargeable). Then you should carry your ID card to the hospital for availing a cashless claim
In case of emergency hospitalization, the company should be contacted at 1800 425 2255 after hospitalization. The Pre-authorization form should be faxed at 1800 425 5522 (toll-free) or 044 2830 2200 (chargeable) within 24 hours of hospitalization. After verification cashless claim would be settled.
For reimbursement claims:
You have to intimate the insurance company who then assigns a field doctor for you claims.
After getting discharge from the hospital, you should pay all hospital bills and collect all original bills and medical certificates.
You should then fill up the claim form and submit it to the insurance company along with all your original medical bills and reports.
The company would scrutinize the documents and reimburse you as per the policy coverage.
