Amma Two Wheeler Insurance Scheme

Tamil Nadu Government in the year 2018 introduced the ‘Amma Two Wheeler Insurance’ scheme that empowers working women in the state to purchase two wheeler. The scheme offers a discount on two wheeler insurance purchases, thus making it easy for women to buy the vehicle. The scheme extends coverage only for gear-less or auto geared vehicles. Read on to know about the eligibility criteria, benefits, steps to download the application form and how to apply for the scheme.

Amma two wheeler scooter scheme is a government led scheme in Tamil Nadu that enables poor working from the state to avail maximum discount of up to Rs.25000 or 50% discount, whichever is lower for purchase of the two wheeler vehicle. Under this scheme, differently abled women can avail three wheel retrofitted two wheeler vehicles. The remaining cost after availing the discount can be availed by the applicant through loan or can be paid using your own funds.

Through this scheme, the government of Tamil Nadu is looking to empower working women belonging to the unprivileged section of the society. Given below are few of the benefits of the Amma two wheeler scheme:

• Over 1 lakh women will benefit from this scheme on a yearly basis
• Applicable to women residing in rural or urban areas of Tamil Nadu.
• Subsidy is directly offered to the bank account of the beneficiaries
• Discount of up to 50% or Rs.25000 whichever is lower is offered to the applicant
• Bank loan can be availed to finance the remaining two wheeler amount
• Benefits differently abled women too by offering retro fitted two wheeler scooter.

The Tamil Nadu government has listed down the below eligibility criteria to help women avail the benefits of the scheme. Below is the eligibility criteria for Amma two wheeler insurance scheme.

• Age 18-40 years
• Annual income not more than 2.5 lakh
• Educated 8th class pass or fail
• Driving license Should possess valid two wheeler or learning license
• To avail benefit with a learning license, the applicant should submit the copy of the same.
• Who are the eligible beneficiaries to avail coverage under Amma two wheeler insurance scheme.
• Apart from the eligibility criteria, given below is the list of eligible beneficiaries that are eligible to receive coverage under the scheme.
• Women who are working and commuting long distance
• Women whose earnings are primary income source for the family
• Women who are collectively or individually engaged as a group for a livelihood wage or activity employment
• Women registered as workers in organized and unorganized sectors
• Women who are employed in shops and establishments
• Self employed women professionals engaged in petty trades
• Women employed in government institutions either on salary or contractual basis
• Women employed in private institutions, government projects or community based organizations such as village poverty reduction committees, panchayat level federation and Mavatta Makkal Kattral Maiyam
• ASHA workers and Banking Correspondents and banking facilitators

Working women who are a part of the below groups will be given priority

• Deserted
• Widows
• Residing in remote or hilly regions
• Transgenders
• Differently abled
• Unmarried women above the age of 35 years
• Household heads
• SC/ST

Reservation Quota under Amma two wheeler insurance scheme

As per a circular issued by the Government of Tamil Nadu, given below are the reservation quota details of the Amma 2 wheeler insurance scheme

• Scheduled caste 21%
• Scheduled tribes 1%
• Differently abled 4% (all categories)

To apply for the Amma two wheeler insurance scheme, below is the procedure

Amma two wheeler insurance also known as Amma Yojana of Pradhan Mantri Scooter Yojana, is one of the popular two wheeler schemes in India. Given below are the steps to follow to download the Amma Yojana application form.

• Step 1 : Download the application form from XXXX or collect it from the office of block office, urban local body office, and the collectorates
• Step 2: Fill the application form and submit it to the respective block office or urban local body in person. You can even send it through a speed post. The application form will be accepted at the dedicated counter between 10 am- 5 pm during all working hours.
• Step 3: A unique application number will be provided and the acknowledgement receipt will be filled and signed in. Don’t miss out on collecting the acknowledgement receipt.

Steps to keep in mind when filling out the urban application form

• Step 1 : Collect the application form and paste your passport size photograph on the form
• Step 2: Enter your address details consisting of the district you reside in, name of the corporation, municipality or town panchayat, ward number or name. You will also have to submit details such as your name, your husband's name, fathers name, address, education, etc.
• Step 3: Proceed by entering the details of your learning license, driving license, invoice, etc. Loan details will have to be submitted in case you are buying the vehicle on loan.
• Step 4: Enter yes for submitting all the supporting documents such as your Aadhar card, driving license, community certificate, proof of education, etc.
• Step 5: Sign the application form by entering the date and time.

Subsidy claim form

The subsidy offered under the amma two wheeler insurance scheme will be deposited in your bank or loan account only after receiving the registration certificate and completing of physical verification of the two wheeler purchase.

Follow the below steps to fill the Amma two wheeler subsidy claim form

• Step 1: Enter your details such as name, address, date of birth and details related to the vehicle such as its make and model, type of manufacturer, etc.
• Step 2: Enter vehicle registration number, date of registration, your driving license details if you have purchased the vehicle on loan. If purchased through a bank loan then specifics on the loan account details.
• Step 3: Enter bank account details such as IFSC code, account type, branch name, and then enter the on road price of the vehicle along with the subsidy amount.
• Step 4: Sign the subsidy claim form and get the signature of the manager of the bank or the finance company along with a stamp and signature.

Field verification form

The field verification form is meant for the amma two wheeler verification staff to keep a record of all the observations and to ensure that the details provided by the vehicle owner are correct. The checklist mentions the below:

• Age
• Name
• Residential address of the applicant
• Income details

• Priority category
• General observation of the field staff

Any brand of gearless or auto geared vehicle subject to the below specifications can be purchased under the Amma scooter scheme.

• Vehicle not more than 125 cc engine capacity
• Vehicle registered under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988
• Vehicle manufactured on or after January 2018
• Vehicles complaint with the latest emission guidelines
• Retro fitted three wheeler scooter for the differently abled individuals

2. Enter the name of the district or panchayat that you belong to. Enter the name of your husband or father, gender, education, etc.
3. Enter the details of the scooter you are planning to buy. Mention if you are buying the vehicle through loan or using your own funds. Attach the invoice quotation of the vehicle and the details of the bank through which you are financing the vehicle on loan. Enter your savings bank account details.
